Jonathan Ray Smith was born November 10th, 1962 to August and Helen Smith, in McGregor Texas. He was the seventh of nine children. He accepted Christ at an early age and later served as a faithful member at Robeson Chapel AME Church, in McGregor Texas, until his health failed him.
He attended public School in McGregor Texas where he graduated in 1981, where he was a true BULLDOG fan, and continued his academic studies in Criminal Justice, at McLennan Community College in Waco Texas.
Jonathan was employed with various companies, including Plantation Foods, Bartlett State Jail, McGregor Police Department, Crawford Police Department, and the Texas Youth Commission. He also volunteered as an EMT in McGregor Texas. He met the love of his life, Carol Minor! They were together for 30 years, and raised two children, Lacy, (Nick) from Grand Prairie Texas, Cameron (Nikki) of Waco Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, August Smith, mother, Helen (Smith) Hicks, and sister, Chloe Sullivan.
He leaves to cherish his memory Carol, Lacy, and Cameron; four brothers, Jackey Thomas (Andrea), August Thomas (Lisa), Ricky Thomas (Linda), and Phillip Smith; along with four sisters, Sonya Smith (Jerry), Rev. Sandra Carter (Russell), Minister Kim Gipson, and Althea Poland (Donald). Jonathan has seven grandchildren; Kirah, Ravion, Navion, Kennedy, Nicholas, Noah, and Nathan. He had a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives, and many friends including special friends Foster Williams, Eric Gee, and Rodney Ross.
