R.E. Pate Jr.

Mr. R. E. Pate, Jr. was welcomed into the loving arms of God on the morning of Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, 2019.  Mr. Pate was the eldest child of his eight siblings, born February 4, 1947 in Ben Hur, TX to R.E. (Sr.) and Lorine Scott Durham Pate.

R. E. grew up in Donie, TX and attended Teague I.S.D. schools.  Growing up, he enjoyed the country life; fishing, farming and being with his four younger brothers.  R.E. was active in sports in school and always loved a good laugh.  Mr. Pate graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Teague, and later moved to Waco, TX to attend Paul Quinn College- majoring ineducation.  While attending Quinn, he met and married Linda Jefferson.  They were married December 30, 1972, recently celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Pate enjoyed the freedom of the open road and was employed as a delivery driver for several companies over the years, including Coca Cola Beverages, Waco Tribune-Herald and continuing with Domino’s Pizza for over 20 years.  He also liked to go bowling, play dominoes, cards and cheer for America’s Team- the Dallas Cowboys.  Always a quiet soul, Mr. Pate spent more time with his wife in church and family since having a stroke in 2006.  His final hours were shared with family and filled with love and prayers for his journey to see God.

R.E. was known to many in his family as “Jr.” and affectionatelynicknamed “Robert” by his wife.  During their time together, Mr. and Mrs. Pate had their hearts and home filled with their three daughters, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
