Obituary

Ms. Georgia Lynn Scarlett Ward was born January 29, 1938 in Somerville, Texas to the parentage of Frank and Thelma Scarlett, Sr.  She was reared in a family of eighteen children.  She attended public schools in Waco Independent School District and graduated from Jefferson Moore High School in 1956.  She was united in marriage to Mr. Aaron Ward on June 4, 1969, who preceded her in death.  Georgia became a born againbeliever under the leadership of Elder Cleo Cameron at Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.  She later became a member of the following churches:  Rock of Ages Church of God in Christ, New Branch Worship Center, and Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ, where she was a member until her death.  She served in various capacities such as usher board president and kitchen cook. She worked for the child nutrition and transportation departments at Waco ISD, then later spent years being a homemaker.  Georgia was the matriarch, raising many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as her own.  She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, playing bingo & cards, and being a mother to everybody. 

Those who proceeded her in death include her husband, Aaron Ward; children, Brenda Scarlett and Reginald P. Scarlett, Sr.; herparents and 15 siblings.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory:  Five grandsons: William Stewart, Lamont Stewart, Reginald Scarlett, Jr., Joshua Scarlett, Myron Stewart; Six granddaughters: Angela Stewart, Lauchrida Stewart, Teronica Stewart, Erica Scarlett, Tiffany Melvin, & Whitney Scarlett; devoted great-grandchildren:  Kuntellon (Lil. John), Desmond, Aaron, Dayon, De’Drica(Miyah), Stashon, Elijah Williams, Andrika, Breanda, and KeKe; a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, Two sisters, Patsy Bradshaw and Minnie Williams, of Waco; extended family in Ft. Worth, TX; God-daughter, Alice Gray; a devoted sister-friends, Wanda Kelly & Rita Montgomery; a devoted nephew, Williams Darnell Jackson (Uncle TeeTee); and a host of relatives, cousins, and friends.
