James Edward Thomas Sr. was the third son born to Curtis Thomas Sr. and Ada Thomas (McClain) on June 12, 1932 in Satin, Texas. He accepted Christ and united with the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in the Satin community with whom he maintained a faithful membership and served on the deacon board.
James attended Rock Dam School in Satin, TX. Later James had many careers but worked as a truck driver for Central Freight Lines for most of his adult life.
James united in marriage with Kressie Mae Smith in 1958 and to this union they were blessed with three daughters and two sons. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, brother and had many dear friends.
He loved to travel and his job afforded him to travel to all the 48 continental United States and met many people along the way.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Kressie M. Thomas, son, James Edward Thomas Jr., brothers Curtis Thomas Jr and Red Field (RF) Thomas and parents.
Those left to cherish his memory: daughters Ruthie M. Long (Ollie) of Waco, Texas, Sharon K. Thomas of Harlington, Texas, Delilah (Lila) Thomas of Waco, Texas, Loretta Montgomery of Cold Spring, Texas; sons David W. Thomas of Waco, TX, Darrel Batts of Kansas City, Kansas; devoted sister-in-law Lois Faye Thomas of Golinda, Texas and sister-in-law Karen Smith of Dallas, Texas; nieces Cheryl and Bettie; nephews, Rick, Randy and Joe C; devoted friend Billy Joe Courtney ; eleven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren relatives and friends.
