A memorial service for Louis Daniel DePan, 34, is scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, September 19, 2021
at Rivers of Living Waters church, 508 Gray Street, Killeen, TX under the direction of Serenity Life
Celebrations. Visitation will be held from 6-7pm on Friday, September 18, 2021 at the same location. He
succumbed September 14, 2021 to injuries sustained in a tragic accident August 28, 2021, in Bell County,
TX. He leaves behind a wife, Courtney, and two beautiful children; Brecklyn, 12, and Jaxon, 5, all of
Killeen, TX.
Louis was born December 26, 1986 at Barksdale, AFB in Bossier City, LA, to Julia Anne DePan of
Alamogordo, NM and Hassan Zangeneh of Dallas, TX. Louis is survived by his wife and children; half-
brothers Shervin Zangeneh and Shahin Zangeneh both of Dallas, TX; paternal grandmother Sharon
Ganmayeh of Dallas, TX; maternal grandmother Julia Ann DePan of Alamogordo, NM; numerous uncles,
aunts, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Hooshang Zangeneh, his maternal grandfather
Louis Henry DePan, dad David Bruce Waser, father in law, Keith Rupe; and cousin Gabriel Rupe.
Louis attended Red Mountain High School in Mesa, AZ and joined the National Guard at 17. He played
soccer and golf and enjoyed trail riding with his family. After high school graduation on May 25, 2005, he
was deployed to the Middle East on May 26, 2005, at the age of 18.
Deployed nine times during his service in the United States Army, Louis earned many honors befitting
the dedicated soldier he was including Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal,
Meritorious Unit Commendation; Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, national
defense service medal, global war on terrorism expeditionary medal and service medal. Commissioned
officer professional development ribbon; Army service ribbon, overseas service ribbon, armed forces
reserve medal, armed forces reserve medal with m-device, NATO medal, combat action badge, aircraft
crewman badge, basic aviation badge, inherent resolve campaign medal with campaign star, driver and
mechanic badge, with drive-wheeled vehicle clasp, with special equipment operator clasp.
He was wounded in action in 2008 and earned a _______medal.
Afghan Campaign Medal with 2 stars and the Afghan Campaign Medal with Arrowhead.
Louis is a member of Silverbacks Motorcycle Club and was a member of the Combat Veterans
Motorcycle Association.
