In Loving Mem

Nancy Mae Hudson

November 5, 1926 ~ January 6, 2022 (age 95)

Mrs. Nancy Mae Hudson, 95 of Waco, Texas, by San Antonio, Texas, was born in Pike County, Concord, Georgia, on November 5, 1926, left to be with the Lord on January 6, 2022.

Nancy graduated from high school and returned as a teacher’s aid. She had various jobs before meeting the love of her life, Willie C. Hudson, Sr. After a long-distance courtship, they were married on July 17, 1955. They made Fort Poke, LA their first home. Soon after, they were transferred to Fort Hood, TX. Once there they welcomed their first born, Willie C. Hudson, Jr. (September 1958). A year later, they transferred to the U.S. Army Garrison in Heidelberg, Germany, where Nancy gave birth to her second son, Franklin P. Hudson (February 1960). The family spent a year in Germany, then off to France. The family was there for 18 months, before returning to Fort Benning, GA. Nancy completed their family with the birth of Napoleon C. Hudson (May 1963). The final military move was to Fort Bliss, TX, where her husband retired from the Army after 22 years of service. The family ended up in San Antonio after a couple more moves in 1969.

Nancy was a mother, homemaker, and a community activist. She would write to the local officials about issues in the neighborhood, and she wrote two presidents, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter, receiving letters and pens from both. She believed in treating people right.

Nancy loved to sew and made many of her own clothes and those of her children. She had a real green thumb. Even with all the moves, she was always growing something. She could grow anything: fruits, trees, or vegetables; however, her passion was roses. Many times, she would literally fill her home with the roses from her garden. Cooking was her other pastime.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years and 11 months, Willie C. Hudson, Sr.; mother, Elnora Jackson; father, Glover Jackson, Sr.; brother, Glover Jackson, Jr.; sister, Ruby Jackson; and uncle, Henry Milner Sr. She leaves to cherish in her loving memories her three sons, Willie, Jr. (Cynthia), Franklin P. (Joi), and Napoleon Hudson; grandsons, Devin Ross, Napoleon “Isaac” Hudson, loving Aaron Hudson; two great-grandsons, Jeremiah and Gabriel; sisters, Willie Maude Smith, Eldora Smith, and Anna L. Hayes, all of Griffin, Georgia; brother, John Ed Jackson. She will also be missed by a host of neighbors and friends that watched after her.
