Sylvia Ann Bible

December 14, 1955 ~ March 5, 2021 (age 65)


 Sylvia Ann Newton Hill-Bible was born in Lockney, TX in Floyd County on December 14, 1955 to Billy Joe Newton and Thelma Ruth Geiger Newton.  She was the 6th daughter of 9 siblings. Sylvia enjoyed growing up with her siblings and learning the skills of singing and music at an early age.   
She was preceded in death by her biological father , Billy Joe Newton at the early age of 9.  Her mother later remarried to Jessie Bouston and to that union, one child was born. He later preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her loving mother, Thelma Ruth Newton Bouston, one sister,  Verna Ruth Newton McElroy, and one niece, Rolona Nell Johnson.  Preceded also in death by her grandparents. 

Sylvia attended elementary and middle schools at Booker T Washington in Plainview ,Texas, Dimmitt,Texas, and at Andrew Ward Elementary in Floydada, Texas.  She also attended school at Floydada Junior high and Floydada High School. She was very intelligent as all of her teachers loved and doted on her.  In 1972 ,she moved to Albuquerque ,New Mexico and she continued going to school at Albuquerque High School.  She advanced as a senior and graduated with honors from high school in 1973.  At that time, her daughter, Sylane Williams was born.

In 1973, she later moved back to Plainview ,Texas ,where she pursued her college degree at Wayland Baptist College .  She was highly involved in numerous activities as she was a cheerleader.  She was also in sororities,  Mu Kappa and Delta Chi Delta.  In 1977, she received her  Bachelor of Arts degree.
She met and married Donald Ray Hill  and to this union, a son, Reggie Hill, Sr. was born. In1978, she began teaching as a Math teacher for Plainview High School.  In 1979, she met the late Bishop A. Ladell Thomas, Sr. during a church convention and he offered her a job as a teacher in Waco, Tx.  She moved to Waco in 1980 and begin teaching as a math teacher at University High School.  She taught school there for over 20 years.  She was loved by all of her students and peers as she was well known to everybody as Miss Hill.  She retired from teaching in 1990 from Waco ISD.  She also taught schools at LaVega ISD.

Sylvia started her life with Christ at an early age she was very dedicated and faithful.  Throughout her years of life, she served as a faithful member to numerous churches that she attended. She  became a musician at an early age , as she had the passion of the piano.  She served many hats while serving the Lord.  She was from District Missionary  to District Choir director, to Church secretary to treasurer.  She was involved  in numerous Women Christian Workshops,  spoke at revivals and was the musician for numerous churches.  In 2019, she received her Ordained Minister license.  She loved being a witness for the Lord as well as volunteering.  She was highly involved in the Waco community volunteering at a local food pantry for many years, Shepard's Heart.  She loved and adored her grandchildren. In 2007,  she was United in holy matrimony with  Ronald Bible .  She loved and adored her husband.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband,  Mr Ronald Bible, Killeen, Tx,  her children,  Sylane Evette (Faron) Kershaw,  Dallas, Tx and Reggie (Alicia) Hill, Sr.  Mesquite, Tx, 2 stepsons, Rashaad (LaToya) Bible and Marion (Ambra)Bible, Waco, Tx, 11 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchil dren, 2 brothers Billy(Frances) Newton, Marlin,Tx, BJ (Sylwia)Newton,Sr., Allentown, PA, 5 sisters,Patricia (Thomas)Davis,Albuquerque, NM, Myrtle Faye (LeeVell)Polite, Lockesburg, Ark, Shirley Newton,  Waco, Tx, Thelma(Spencer)Majors, Round Rock, Tx, Voyles (Leroy)Martin, Magnola, Arkansas and a host of Aunties, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews.  Her lifetime friends,Darrell Bush, Velma Thompson,  Sandra King, Jackie Roberts and Jeonice Lee. 

Preceded in death by childhood friend Sandra Wall Tolson, and dear friends Shelia Wall and Vicky Moten.
